“The left understood power as the concerted concentration of will that moves through the spokes of diverse opinion and need to a hub of common authority—the Jeffersonian ideal, if you will: power ascending from the people to government.
“… I was referring to the exercise of power, an area where the left habitually shoots itself in the foot. It is so tied to the principle of power moving from diversity of opinion to consensus to unity that it will sacrifice its unity over factional squabbles. There comes a time in any effort that the exercise of power must move from the hub of achievability, through the spokes of idealism, to what is attainable.”

There is a clear and present threat to our way of life, and I don’t mean way of life as derived or seen merely through politics, religion, race, ethnicity or culture. I mean a way of life imbued in the essence of our being, driving our inherent spirit toward the full, uninhibited realization of our true nature.
Our governmental, social, economical, and judicial institutions ideally derive their power and authority from we the people to provide and promote our general welfare. To that end a democratic republic was forged and constituted. To that end a political party system emerged. Our general welfare for which all of the aforementioned was created is now severely threatened. This threat is beyond political party and party candidate. It is a shadowy consciousness of calcified bigotry, enmity and evil intention. It is a backward, primitive consciousness of despotic nature bent on divisional separatism, disempowerment, marginalization, and class dominion. It has been spreading in the open, since the election of our country’s first African American president, and now has claimed the Republican Party. It is personified in the party’s standard bearer, Donald J. Trump.
This election is no longer merely an election of leadership, but one of national self-identity and fundamental character, one of defining ethos. It is passed the time to be present, focused in the now. Now is not replaying in your head “what could have been, what should have been, if only… Get over your pain body, get over your disappointment and “move from the hub of achievability, through the spokes of idealism, to what is attainable.” Stop acting out and act forcibly in unifying the Democratic Party.
Today at the first day of the DNC convention, one delegate, Bernie supporter said that “We don’t want to vote for Hillary because the polls [indicate] she can’t beat Trump.” Hate to tell you bud, that is an untenable position that spells defeat and makes your maturity suspect. You can keep booing Bernie when he calls upon you to support Clinton, but that doesn’t change the popular vote and delegate count that won her the election without necessitating a Super Delegate tie breaker. You’ve won a concession on that, now get grounded in the now. It is NOW that you must choose the path for the general welfare or for general misery.
Unlike yourself, there are many in the country without the education, means, job or job security to travel and attend a convention, much less be a delegate. Are you feeling any Bern for them?
