  1. Poet, mythical storyteller, and essayist, I was born of Nanticoke ancestry, mixed with other drums and songs. Prior to publishing Sitting with Warrior (iUniverse, 2010), I placed first in poetry in the Tenth Annual Whipple Voices Writing Festival (2003). More recently, my poem, Breath of Fire, was included in the anthology, Meditations on Divine Names (Maja Trochimczyk, Moonrise Press, 2012). Currently, Shades of Light (iUniverse, 2013), a book of spiritual and socially-relevant poetry, has arrived.

Yes, we don't forget the hard road we've come, the many trails of tears, the fire hoses, the dogs; the stolen lands, genocide, and deracination from our original homes; the bullets and canon fire that yoked us to reservations and plantations, the whippings and the lynchings; the booby traps, land mines, the loss of limbs and death by mortal combat defending our stake in the American Dream.

We do not forget our earned and legitimate claim to the USA, as our country and future. And we shall not be overcome. Nor shall we reduce ourselves to the same evil and hatred perpetrated against us. For we are people of the Earth, of generosity of spirit, of heart and soul. We are lovers of life and of mystical origin, standing firm and strong. We are the ones we've been waiting for—celebrating our uniqueness and our commonality with all life. We stand grateful and humble before life and the Great

Mystery. We stand as perennial as the mountains and seasons. We are the People, Standing Strong!

“I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.”  —  Harry Truman
